Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance provides a promt Helicopter Emergency Medical Service to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Funded solely by donations, the Air Ambulance flies seven days a week, 365 days a year, and is available for 19 hours a day, until 2.00 am. It can be anywhere in Hampshire in 15 minutes and the Isle of Wight in 20. It currently costs in excess of £230,000 each month to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Our Aircraft, an H135, is based at Thruxton Airport, near Andover. Our crews consist of a one pilot, a paramedic and a doctor. The speed with which the Air Ambulance can take the patient to the most appropriate hospital for their needs, coupled with the medical skills on board, which effectively bring the hospital to the patient, can have a dramatic effect upon the outcome for the patient.
